How To Get A Read On Your Poker Opponents When You Cannot See Them
By http://www.mysportsbookonline.info/

Every poker player knows that picking up a read (also known as a tell) on their opponents is crucial to their chances of taking down the big pots. Looking for those tells is much easier playing in a live environment and you can soon know that every time your opponent scratches his nose he is holding a monster hand so it is time for you to fold. However with the internet poker scene how do you pick up those tells when playing online? Here are a few hints and tips to help you do that.

Timing plays a big part here for online poker tells. That timing being how fast or slow your opponents decide to bet or fold after cards are dealt. Now let's look at a few online timing tells and how they might help to give you an indication of what your opponents have. A good tip here is to use timing tells in conjunction with your opponents' betting patterns to give yourself a mental picture of the hand they may be holding.

The instant check is generally an indication that your opponent has little and are pretty much giving up the pot or hoping you will also check to give them a free chance at improving their hand. Conversely if the board shows the possibility of a straight or flush draw and your opponent throws out an instant call then they have probably hit their draw. Or if they do the same instant call in reaction to a bet from yourself all the way through the flop, turn and river they could

be chasing their draw in the hope of hitting it. If you don't already have the better hand, beware.

Consider the speed with which your opponent acts. At the lower stakes games a fast raise or call is generally a stronger indication they are holding a good hand and a fast check that they are not. Also think about how much or little your opponent is throwing in to the pot. An instant action with a big raise or instantly calling your raise could spell danger for you unless you are confident you have the nuts.

A word of caution. Do not put all your faith in timing tells. Look out for and use timing tells along with every other piece of information you can glean about your opponents at the online poker tables. The more aware online poker player knows about timing tells and may well mix it up a little whereas the newbie, or fish, may not be so subtle.

Be aware enough about your own game not to give off your own timing tells. To do this try to take the same amount of time each time you fold, check, call or raise. Don't take too long or act too quickly and instead try to constant timing approach to mask your timing tells and keep your opponents guessing.
